A Life-Long Passion for Coaching
Jon Palmen, the founder of Go Sports America, is a member of the Hibu Digital Marketing firm and responsible for SE Wisconsin. Jon comes from the private sector, owning and operating a large family dealership in SE Wisconsin as well as owning and operating a small sports performance business.
Jon excelled right out of St. Olaf College, double-majoring in economics and Asian studies. He began as a fast-tracked sales and marketing manager for the Chrysler Corporation before joining the retail side of the family car business. He spent over 11 years doubling the size of his family business before selling it to pursue a life-long passion for coaching.
Jon spent eight years growing and developing a performance sports business, training athletes of all ages. After selling the performance sports training business, he taught math at a local high school and continued his coaching career.
An Athlete and Entrepreneur at Heart
Currently, Jon draws on his strong skills to build relationships and serve customers to help businesses of all sizes find the right talent for their company. Knowing the framework of successful businesses is the key to his understanding and developing his clients' need.
Jon is an athlete and entrepreneur at heart. Starting at a young age, he felt the “pull” to be in the world of athletics and coaching. While working in the corporate world and coaching in his free time, Jon realized the need for local performance sports training. He created Palmen Sports to provide systematic, science-based programming to help athletes of all ages.
By partnering with the Athletic Republic, Jon combined his passion for sports with business innovation. Athletes throughout the Kenosha, WI, area are reaping the results of his efforts.
Inspired by His Father's Devotion to Sports
Inspired by his father’s devotion to sports, Jon’s athletic spirit began in Kenosha, WI, playing football, basketball, and tennis at Tremper High School. He lettered six times in three years, served as captain of the tennis team, and finished in the top 32 of the state tennis tournament. Jon also excelled in three sports at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.
His commitment to athletics, the community and making a difference helped him establish the non-profit organization Go Sports America. Believing that team sports can prepare players of all ages for essential life skills, Go Sports America is dedicated to helping local athletes through fundraising for athletic programs, team sponsorships, and scholarships.
In May of 2015, Jon was inducted into the KUSD (Kenosha Unified School District) Hall of Fame and presented with the 2015 Meritorious Service Award. Jon also continues to coach Boys Tennis at Indian Trail High School.
